I chose two small plates rather than one main meal to maximise tasting opportunities! The Burrata, rhubarb (I love rhubarb) and tempura lemon was not only stunning but tasted amazing too. Who knew this combo would work?!
My second small plate was the Black Garlic Lamb Ribs which were EVERYTHING I wanted them to be and more! Sweet, tart, savoury, meaty and topped with chilli, onion, herbs and pistachio. I really was reluctant to share any of this dish, but I'm nice, so I let my siblings have a little taste! I'll be trying to recreate at home using this Ottolenghi recipe.
My sister, Abbie went for the chewy burnt carrots with lentils and chilli and chose the parsnip and pecorino croquettes with pickled walnuts for us to share to start too. Both of these were so full of flavour and so many amazing ingredients working together to make such incredibly tasty dishes.
We shared The Dusty Knuckle sourdough (so happy they’re smashing it after supporting them at the start through the BBC Good Food Show Bursary Awards).
Harry (my little brother over from Florida!) went for the Saddleback pork chop with kohlrabi and apple kimchi; the meat was melt in the mouth tender and so full of flavour.
We couldn’t resist the trying the Einkorn pitta with tahini (one of Ottolenghi's star ingredients) which was glorious.
Lovely surprise end to the meal with happy Happy Birthday miso fudge with vanilla salt for Abbie.
I tried the PIÑA Y PIÑA to drink which was a gorgeous blend of ROVI coal-roasted pineapple, Ocho blanco tequila, citrus, tajin, agave and ginger. This drink inspired a new way to serve my margaritas at home; with Tajin; a Mexican lime, chilli and salt mix which was super zingy and was a bargain via Amazon Prime at only £3.52* delivered! Have you tried it?!
