The story of Jean Bâton begins in the 1950s with Jan Stok, a young, ambitious chef with a hunger for adventure. Boarding a Holland-America Line cruise ship in his early 20s, Jan set sail on a decade-long voyage that would take him from New York to Bermuda, Canada to the Caribbean, and far beyond.

Working as Chef Garde Manger, Jan mastered the art of cold-kitchen cuisine—crafting appetisers, salads, desserts, and, most importantly, sauces. It was here, among his French colleagues, that his talent and dedication earned him the nickname "Jean Bâton", a name that would later become synonymous with pure, high-quality sauces and exceptional mayonnaises.

From Ship to Shelf – A Legacy of Excellence

Jan’s passion for fresh ingredients, bold flavours, and culinary craftsmanship became the foundation of the Jean Bâton brand. In 2013, inspired by his legacy, his youngest son Bart Stok introduced a range of special mayonnaises and dressings, bringing Jan’s recipes to homes and restaurants across the world.
