Good Food Show at Sea - Fabulous Food Finds Tasting

If you've found yourself here it means you've experienced one of our tastings at the Good Food Show at Sea Cruise. I hope you enjoyed the tasting and found some new favourites. Here's what you tasted!

1. Casa de L’Oli Wild Herb Olive Oil

  • Tasting Experience: Tasters began by warming the oil to release a fragrant blend of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and fennel. Smooth, buttery, and fruity notes mingled with earthy, herbal flavours.
  • Unique Aspects: Hand-picked Arbequina olives from South Catalonia are cold-pressed with herbs, offering a naturally bold flavour.
  • Suggested Uses: Ideal for marinades, salad dressings, drizzling on pasta or risottos, or as a finishing touch on meats and veggies.

2. Gourmet Spice Co. Aged White Balsamic Vinegar

  • Tasting Experience: Light, fruity, and creamy, with hints of butterscotch. This vinegar offered a mellow yet vibrant contrast between sweetness and acidity.
  • Unique Aspects: Made with grape must and wine vinegar, aged at low temperatures for a clean, complex flavour without added sugar.
  • Suggested Uses: Perfect for salads, sauces, grilled vegetables, seafood, or even in sparkling drinks.

3. Two Farmers – Wild Garlic & Woodland Mushroom + Salted Crisps

  • Tasting Experience: Tasters enjoyed the crunch and umami depth of the Wild Garlic & Woodland Mushroom crisps, along with the clean flavor of Droitwich-salted crisps.
  • Unique Aspects: Sustainably grown, hand-cooked in small batches, with biodegradable packaging. Ingredients are locally sourced, including the potatoes and seasonings.
  • Suggested Uses: Great as a snack or to add a burst of flavor to gatherings and events.

4. BoTree – Herbs de Kampot Blend

  • Tasting Experience: A visually enticing blend with a spicy, aromatic profile. Tasters experienced bold heat, sour notes, and fragrant pepper with a hint of clove.
  • Unique Aspects: Sourced from the Kampot region of Cambodia, featuring three types of Kampot pepper and sea salt. Crafted with a unique blend by French mixologist Christian Buchot.
  • Suggested Uses: Sprinkled on grilled meats, veggies, pasta, or used in place of salt and pepper for a bold twist.

5. BoTree – Royal Cinnamon

  • Tasting Experience: Deeply sweet, spicy, with honey and citrus notes. Rich and buttery, reminiscent of warm, comforting flavors.
  • Unique Aspects: This heirloom Vietnamese cinnamon, harvested in the Quang Nam Mountains, retains high essential oil content for intense aroma.
  • Suggested Uses: Ideal for baking, savory dishes, chai tea, or coffee.

6 & 7. Louisa’s Honey – Cherry & Bosco Honeys

  • Cherry Honey: Light in color with a floral, sweet cherry flavor.
  • Bosco Honey: Dark, almost malty with a mineral-rich, high-energy profile. Sourced from Alpine tree honeydew, making it distinct from traditional floral honey.
  • Suggested Uses: Use as a natural sweetener in teas, baking, or drizzled over yogurt and cheese.

8. Russell & Atwell - Milk Chocolate Fresh Cream Truffle

  • Tasting Experience: Tasters enjoyed a “double crack” as they bit into these chocolates with a creamy, buttery finish. Rich but not overly sweet, with a hint of caramel.
  • Unique Aspects: Fresh, preservative-free chocolate made with organic cream, butter, and ethically sourced cocoa, designed to be enjoyed fresh.
  • Suggested Uses: For an indulgent treat or to pair with coffee for a luxurious dessert.
