Chili Maven

Some products don’t just add flavour – they tell a story. Chili Maven is one of those brands that doesn’t just make incredible sauces; it brings a whole cultural experience to your table. From the moment I opened a jar of Salsa Macha, I knew this was something special – bold, aromatic, and absolutely addictive. But Chili Maven doesn’t stop at chili oils – her range of mole sauces is equally as magical, bringing the deep, rich, and complex flavours of traditional Mexican cuisine into your kitchen.

The Story Behind the Flavour

Chili Maven is the brainchild of Alexa Fernandez, a woman on a mission to bring the deep, smoky, and rich flavours of Mexico into kitchens everywhere. Growing up on the Texas-Mexico border, Alexa was surrounded by the incredible heritage of chili-based sauces, but when she moved to the UK, she found one thing missing – Salsa Macha and Mole.

For those unfamiliar, Salsa Macha is a Mexican chili oil that blends dried chilis, garlic, nuts, and seeds into a deeply complex, umami-packed condiment. It’s crunchy, fiery, and totally transformative – the kind of thing you start putting on everything.

Mole, on the other hand, is one of Mexico’s most legendary sauces – a rich, slow-cooked blend of chilis, nuts, seeds, spices, and even chocolate, used to bring deep, complex flavour to meats, vegetables, and rice dishes. It’s smoky, savoury, slightly sweet, and full of layers upon layers of taste. Alexa has perfected her own Mole range, making this traditionally time-consuming sauce accessible to home cooks without compromising on authenticity.

The Products – A Taste of Mexico in Every Spoonful

I’ve tried a lot of chili oils, but Chili Maven’s award-winning Salsa Macha is something else. It’s not just about heat – it’s about depth, richness, and a touch of smokiness that brings food to life.

🔥 Spicy & Nutty Salsa Macha – A bold, fiery version packed with smoky dried chilis, earthy nuts, and seeds, perfect for drizzling over tacos, eggs, or even a cheese toastie.

🌶️ Mild & Smoky Salsa Macha – A gentler but just as flavourful version, where the subtle smokiness comes through beautifully, adding a rich umami hit without overwhelming heat.

🍫 Mole Negro – The king of mole sauces, with a deep, rich, and smoky complexity that includes dark chocolate, dried chilis, toasted seeds, and spices.

🌰 Mole Almendrado – A silky almond-based mole, with a gentler heat and nutty sweetness, perfect for chicken or roasted vegetables.

🍅 Mole Coloradito – A vibrant, slightly spiced tomato-based mole, perfect for drizzling over grilled meats or stirring into a rich stew.

It’s no surprise that both the Salsa Macha and Mole range have been recognised with Great Taste Awards – that’s the kind of recognition reserved for products that truly deliver on taste.

Why I’m Obsessed with Chili Maven

✔️ Proper Mexican Flavours – This is the real deal, made with authentic ingredients and traditional techniques.

✔️ Ridiculously Versatile – Drizzle Salsa Macha over roasted veg, swirl it into hummus, stir it through pasta, spoon it over steak. With Mole sauces, pour over chicken, drizzle on tacos, stir into rice – honestly, just put it on everything.

✔️ Independent & Passionate – Alexa’s dedication to quality and heritage is what makes Chili Maven stand out. It’s small-batch, handcrafted, and made with love – and you can taste that in every spoonful.

I can’t recommend it enough – whether you’re a spice fiend or just someone who wants to add a bit of boldness to your food, this is the condiment you need.
