October News - A Chocolate Challenge, Flower & White Giveaway and Whispers of Christmas…
As the nights draw in and Autumn really takes hold I’m fully embracing comfort meals, cosy hot chocolate and Halloween themed treats. I know Christmas is still far away but as a parent of young kids I have to admit to having text Santa already to check they are still on the nice list, it works a treat! We’ve made our must make plans at this stage for Christmas too, read on to find out what they are! Oh, and don’t miss the delicious giveaway over on my Instagram page!
An Irresistible Chocolatey Challenge
Chocolate that’s hard to get hold of you say? I’ll take that challenge! When I heard about The Chocolate Smiths and how hard it was to actually buy their products I couldn’t help but feel the urge to give it a go! Based in North Shields in Northumbria, this fun chocolate business hand make chocolate bars in limited editions and at the moment, they ALWAYS sell out. They collaborate with some fantastic bakeries like Blondie’s Kitchen where they’ve included a cinnamon roll cookie and caramel in their chocolate bar (I couldn’t resist this one!). My kids loved Cinder Toffee, Popping Candy & Marshmallow in White Chocolate the best and I loved the Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pie. It’s all about the fun flavours with these guys, rather than bean to bar or single origins, but there’s certainly room for both in my world!

Planning for Christmas yet?
Have you started planning for Christmas yet? I know it seems early but there are a few jobs that my family and I start to think about and tick off now, this year especially with all the doom talk of empty shelves at Christmas time this year.
- Who’s making the Christmas pudding and which recipe are we using?
- What meat will we be having? It’s usually just a case of choosing between Goose and Turkey but we want to order early this year, probably from Morton’s Farm, a local Turkey farmer here in Norfolk that deliver nationwide if you’re keen.
- Who’s hosting? (Me!)
If you’re hosting this year have you made the all important decision of your Christmas meal centrepiece? If you want to get yours ordered why not take a look at Morton’s Family Farm, if you’re local to Norfolk you can pick up from the Farm.
