It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a foodie, and what better than to receive a gift that feeds a food lover’s hunger for new kitchen kit, new ingredients, new ideas and recipes to cook with and well, let’s be honest, something fabulous to eat!
Below is Katy’s round up of gifts for all sorts of different foodies in your life, from those that are just beginning their journey to those discerning gourmets who seem to already have everything.
The Slate Cheese Club Subscription is a cheese lover's dream! Every month you get three big wedges of the cheesemonger's choice along with artisan crackers and tasting notes too. It's £99 for a 3 month subscription, so they'll be munching their way into Spring with the best British Cheeses delivered to their door.
If they already have all the gadgets and kitchen kit then a Sous Chef gift voucher or Cook Book Set would be my go to option. Do they love Chinese food? There's a cook book set for that which includes a fantastic Fuchsia Dunlop cook book and an incredible line-up of hard to find ingredients to get started. Ottolenghi lover? There's a set for that too! There are lots of others available too, depending on which cuisine they'd like to explore. If you can't decide then a gift voucher for Sous Chef would be any food lover's dream! No time? Go for the E-Gift Voucher which you can buy and send on the big day!
A good knife can really elevate a cook's kitchen credibility and ability and the very best knives I know are from family run company Kin Knives based in Woodbridge Suffolk. Famous Chefs across the country use these incredible Japanese knives and you may have heard James Martin joke about how 'kin sharp they are. Prices range between £50 and £850 for single knives so they aren't cheap but make a great investment. If you need help choosing, give Harriet a call for advice. You can also find gorgeous handmade chopping boards made by Harriet's husband Zak Hayward-Reeve, which would compliment one of these high quality knives perfectly.
I brought a bottle of Vestal Black Cherry Vodka back from the BBC Good Food Show and my partner Jamie has totally fallen in love with it! So this could make a great gift for a vodka fan, adult stocking filler or make a great addition to your Christmas tipple offering. Try it straight out of the freezer as an after dinner shot with a grating of dark chocolate (think black forest gateaux) or in an espresso martini for a similar flavour profile. Yum!
PS - I've included an Amazon Affiliate link to this product, which will mean Amazon will pay me a small commission for including a link. Thanks if you do follow the link!
The highest quality, single source spices really can take someone's cooking to the all important 'next-level'. Botree Farm have an A-Z of incredible spices, herbs and seasonings and gifting a foodie a selection of these would really make for a happy Christmas! At the BBC Good Food Show we hosted a tasting session together where we tasting their Oregano Buds, Cured Sumac, Buffalo Ginger, Royal Cinnamon, Black Urfa Chilli, Hand Harvested Wild Mountain Cumin and more - they really are fantastic and you can taste the difference. Their Kampot pepper is like the Champagne of pepper and their salted pepper berries really are something else!
